One of two exciting Caturra lots from Finca Morelia in Colombia. The Caturra variety develops flavors of red grape, orange and nougat in the cup. The perfect coffee to start your day! Gently roasted.
These Caturra beans from the Finca Morelia in Colombia are the Lot #1, which we have brought to Berlin for you.
The Finca Morelia is located in the Huila Departamento, a province in the southwest of Colombia. At 1770m above sea level, the Caturra coffee plants of farmer, Miller Walles Cruz, grow there. Miller decided 15 years ago to exchange sugar cane for coffee. Since then, he has experimented with growing different varieties and processing methods. It was very important to him to leave part of his land untouched, so as not to destroy the biodiversity of the surrounding area.
Only when the coffee cherries are fully ripe are they harvested by hand before being weighed and sorted. Sorting is done in huge water tanks - anything that is unripe, overripe, or rotten floats to the top and is skimmed off. After 36 hours in the water bath, the beans are ready for fermentation. For this, the slightly softened coffee cherries go into a tank where they rest for 75 hours to intensify their taste.
When the fermentation process is complete, the beans dry in the sun for 25 days.
Now the processed beans just need to be roasted to beautifully bring out their red grape, orange and nougat notes.
Try Miller's Lot #2 too: the same Caturra variety processed in a very similar, yet different way! Taste the subtle difference.
Choose your grind
If you don't have a grinder at home, we'll happily grind your coffee to your specifications. Just select your brewing method above or order whole beans.
Find the right grind. You can get the most out of your coffee by grinding your beans just before brewing. Take a look at the equipment selection if you are interested in a grinder.
You can also select a grind level in each product if you want us to grind the beans for you. We use a Mahlkönig EK43 for this.
Frenchpress and Aeropress are ground on the same setting.
Cultivated with love by great farmers. 100% Arabica coffee, harvested when ripe and carefully processed. Sustainable and fairly traded.

Bloody Good Filter
Coffee is a fruit which is naturally acidic and contains many sugars. We roast our filter coffees to bring out this acidity and develop the natural sweetness.
In developing a profile for a filter roast, our roasting team takes a light-handed approach, roasting much more gently than in an espresso roast. Here, the aim is to respect and highlight the natural flavours of the coffee itself, and to let its terroir shine through.
