Our Sonora Geisha Honey is a honey processed coffee, delicately fruity and perfectly balanced. With notes of sweet, juicy peach, soft berry notes and a lingering jasmine finish.
About the coffee
This Geisha Honey from Hacienda Sonora surprises with a delicate, fruity sweetness. It is a perfect example of a smooth and clear 'Honey'-processed Geisha coffee. Balanced and harmonious sums it up best here: aromas of sweet peach, soft berry notes and a lingering jasmine finish combine perfectly.
Try our Sonora Geisha Honey, too. This gives you the rare opportunity to enjoy two Geisha coffees from one farm in different processing methods.
The Geisha coffee cherries are harvested ripe in the period from January to April and processed as 'Honey processed': after pulping, the coffee beans along with part of their pulp are slowly dried in the sun over several weeks. The coffee beans, still sticky, are carefully turned by hand and only when they have reached the right degree of moisture are they taken to the bodega. There they are stored for several months before they are then prepared for transport and come to us in Berlin.
About the farm
Hacienda Sonora is located on the fertile foothills of the Poas Volcano in West Valley, Costa Rica. In the middle of one of the most famous coffee growing areas in the country. For years we have had a close friendship and direct trade business relationship with the Guardia family, who founded the Hacienda.
On 75 hectares, the family grows different varieties of coffee. The coffee trees are "shade grown," growing under a protective canopy of shade trees so that the coffee cherries can ripen undisturbed in a suitable microclimate. The cultivation methods of the hacienda are also super eco friendly: a quebrada that flows through the finca powers a Pelton water turbine that supplies the entire finca with "100% Green Energy" all year round.

Choose your grind
Find the right grind. You can get the most out of your coffee by grinding your beans just before brewing. Take a look at the equipment selection if you are interested in a grinder.
You can also select a grind level in each product if you want us to grind the beans for you. We use a Mahlkönig EK43 for this.
Frenchpress and Aeropress are ground on the same setting.

Bloody Good Coffee
– SINCE 2002
Bloody Good Filter
Coffee is a fruit which is naturally acidic and contains many sugars. We roast our filter coffees to bring out this acidity and develop the natural sweetness.
In developing a profile for a filter roast, our roasting team takes a light-handed approach, roasting much more gently than in an espresso roast. Here, the aim is to respect and highlight the natural flavours of the coffee itself, and to let its terroir shine through.
