Orang Utan coffee is now available again freshly roasted by us. We have been supporting the Orang Utan Project for many years and you support it simply with every cup of Orang Utan coffee you drink. The coffee farmers of the Orang Utan Project, in Indonesia on the island of Sumatra, cultivate coffee according to the strict Orang Utan coffee guidelines, which correspond in the basic features to the requirements of Swiss organic agriculture. The roots of the Orang Utan Coffee Project go back to the 1970s, when the Swiss biologist Regina Frey released confiscated orangutans from illegal captivity into the rainforest.
Since then, it has been a matter of the heart to preserve the rainforest, a unique ecosystem that represents the habitat of countless animal species, including the orangutans. At the same time, organic farming also preserves the fertile soil necessary for coffee farming, which is the livelihood of the coffee farmers. Attention is paid not only to the ecological cultivation but also to the sustainable marketing of the coffee.
This year, made possible by crowdfunding, a coffee processing plant will be built in Takengon on Sumatra. This will give more than 100 coffee farmers a secure future. Furthermore, a lot is done on site for the coffee families, there are trainings on the subject of organic cultivation, the infrastructure is built up, overall the coffee know-how is expanded again and again.
We have freshly roasted this Orang Utan coffee as an espresso in our coffee roastery. This espresso combines a nutty, earthy, strong body with an initial fruitiness that combines with delicate notes of chocolate, hazelnut and caramel. Buy Orang Utan Coffee.
