Mulugeta Muntasha has been in the coffee business for 15 years. He works with about 100 farmers in Bursa Kebele, Arbegona Woreda in the Arbe Guna zone of the Sidama region. In this special place, he produces the coffee variety 74112. At an altitude of 2500 metres, the coffee is grown organically. Every year, Mulugeta manages to collect a proud 120,000 kilograms of red ripe cherries.
Mulugeta believes that the farmers should receive a fair price in view of the high amount of work involved, but they do not. By participating in the COE, he wants to get a higher price for his coffee for this reason, so that he can pay the farmers a higher amount. "I believe that our high score in this competition will help promote our coffee. We are happy to be on the winners' list of the Cup of Excellence Ethiopia 2021," he said.
