Similar to its neighbor Vietnam, Thailand mainly cultivates Robusta. Since 1970, small coffee farms have been trying to set themselves apart from the competition with Arabica. Demand for Thai coffee is rising continuously. The rare Arabicas thrive at altitudes of 800 to 1,500 meters in the north of the country. A particular specialty is the flavor-intensive Peaberrys, which are found more frequently here. Robusta grows mainly in the south.
The high-quality Arabica varieties from Thailand stand out for their soft mouthfeel and floral aromas with little acidity.
