About this coffee

Our Perla Negra coffee originates from the Las Lajas Finca in Costa Rica. Located at the famous Poás volcano the farm thrives on the nutritious soil. It’s no surprise that Francisca Chacón and her husband Oscar have been taking care of the farm in the third generation. When the two took over the farm from Oscars parents in the 90s they decided to make it fully organic and sustainable, leaving harmful fertilizer and pesticide in the past. In the year 2000 they were the first organic-certificated farm in Costa Rica, and they haven’t stopped experimenting ever since.

The family produces their own Bokashi compost to achieve nutritious soil and add more minerals into their fields. But the Chacóns are also experimenting with different processing techniques, using both the honey and natural methods on their farm. This dedication has led to them creating beans of award-winning quality. Our Perla Negra coffee is blessed with complex flavours and a sweet aftertaste. Get excited for traces of ripe mango, maple syrup and sweet melon in your next morning cup.
